Taking forward a learner's 'essay' response to a new slide

Jul 29, 2012

Hello folks

I know what I want to do, but I haven't a clue how to achieve it.

I want to be able to ask learner's to give their thoughts on a topic question, perhaps by listing them as bullet points (I am guessing I would use something similar to quizmaker's essay option).  That's straightforward enough to do.

I would then like to have a few slides of content/information .............and then have a slide which shows potential answers to the original question.  I would like to be able to pull forward the actual answers given by the learner and have them on the screen side by side with a suggested (or standard) answer.  This would allow the learner to compare their answer with the suggested one and guage how far out they were without the question being formally marked or scored.

Any thoughts as to  how I might do this in Storyline?

Use a data entry box for the student's answers.  When you create one, the value is automatically saved as a variable.  Then on the later slide, display that variable.  Do this by putting a text box on the slide, and then on the Insert menu, click the Reference button.  This lets you choose which variable to display.
