Text entry auto-populating and sounds not always working

Aug 20, 2013

Hi,

Does anyone know why certain text entries get auto-populated when they're not supposed to?

I have two pages that have several text entries to be completed when running the published version, however there is one text entry on each page that is auto-populating for some reason. One of them is auto-populating the correct answer that I've included in the Player Triggers and the other is auto-populating an answer from the previous page.

Has anyone ever come across this? What can I do as a fix?

The other issue is that the sounds I've included for the "next" and "previous" buttons, as well as for certain "drag and drops" don't work all the time. They seem to work intermittently only. Is there a particular reason for that?

Thanks,

Alain

Hi Alain and welcome to Heroes!

Without seeing your file, it's hard to know what's really happening - but have you set it up so that the user will receive the correct answer in the text entry field at any point (possibly after submitting their answer, on a layer, as a part of a feedback slide, variables calling the answers)? You mentioned including the correct answer in the player triggers, so you'll just want to make sure the player triggers are in the correct order (top to bottom) so that if you'd like to show the answer later in the timeline, it's happening at the correct spot after the user has answered the question.

In regards to the sounds, again a bit hard without seeing them, but this thread and this thread detail how if the triggers were not set up correctly they may not play. If you'd like to share your .story file here or submit it to us privately, we can take a look.

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for your response.

No, I haven't set up anything to show the correct answers at any point.

For the sounds, it seems to be set up in the correct order to me.

I'll upload the files in order for you to view. I'll let you know when they're up.

There are two files. I will provide some explanation in the comments field when uploading.

Thanks,

Alain

Hi Alain,

Thanks for sending it along - I see it's come into our Support team who are also reviewing the files. One of the first things I noticed, was I couldn't get any text to "auto populate" - I'm using Windows 8 and Google Chrome. Since I can't replicate that piece of it, I'll follow along our Support team helps you out - looks like John Say is helping you out.
