I am working with Storyline 360 and for my freeform text entry fields, pressing the Enter key after typing the correct response does not advance to the next slide in the simulation as it is supposed to. This issue occurs in both the Preview mode and the published output (on Articulate Review and for Web distribution). If anyone has any solutions to this issue, I would greatly appreciate it!
How many lines of text can the text entry accommodate? Is the enter key kicking the cursor to a new line - if so that's expected based on the behavior and design described here.
If you've only got one line and it's still not working, I'd love to take a look at your .story file! That'll help me see if there is anything else that could be causing it.
As far as I know, the text entry is limited to one line. I've attached my .story file, and the issue has begun occurring on slide 1.9 and also occurs on other slides with text entry fields.
I took a peek into your file, and I'm seeing the same thing you're describing. It looks like hitting the Enter key does not allow you to advance to the next slide, but I don't see any settings that would cause that behavior.
I'm going to share your file with the Support team and have them weigh in on what could be causing this. Keep an eye out for an email from Support@Articulate.com!
No, I combed the forums and have come up with the answers I already knew. In other words, I can't see a way to automatically update the variable as it is typed or to have it periodically checked while typing. Naturally I can have the text entry variable update when the user clicks outside the field or some other location. So I'm still hunting for this solution if one exists.
Hey Phil, that sounds promising I appreciate your suggestion and the confirmation. Would a web object be able to pass the variable back to storyline? If so, do you know of a good source for that workflow so I can work out how to make that work?

was this resolved via support? Any insight to share?
Hi Tim,
I'm not seeing where Michelle's case with our support team reached a resolution to share with you here.
I do see where you reached out here as well, so was Bob's solution able to help you out as well?

The text is only sent to the variable when the control loses focus, you may be better off creating a web object that does what you need.

And I nearly mentioned that Matthew had a solution for this one.
