Text Entry Problems
May 23, 2012
Hi,
I'm trying to create a fill in the blank activity where the student would enter their answer in a Right to Left language and then hit submit. I can't figure out how to make it so that the answer is submitted correctly before moving on. I put the correct answer in the Edit Fill in the Blank part, but when I preview it it doesn't accept what I type as the correct answer. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also--not sure if it's possible but I'd ideally want more than one fill in the blank activity on one slide. Is there a way to set this up so that the student doesn't move on until all the fill in the blanks are the correct value?
Thanks,
Daniela

Hi Daniela,
So, for starters, are you using the Fill in the Blanks quiz from the Quizzing tab in Storyline? And is it an issue because of the right to left language? Oh, and did you double check that what you're typing in when you "take the quiz" is exactly the same as the answer you typed in when you set it up? I know it sounds silly, and I may be the only one, but I've made that mistake before :-(.
Also,I'm curious to know if there is a way to build more than one fill-in activity per slide. I just copied/pasted the TextEntry Object Trigger, but am not sure what to do with it. It didn't create two text entry boxes on the slide. And when I try to copy the slide's text entry box, I get a "you can't do this" (Text Entry cannot be copied) prompt.
But I suspect there's a way around this. The Player Triggers trigger submits the action for Filler Interaction 1 when the user hits submit. Hmm. Maybe layers? I may give it a whirl. Someone else may chime in.
Daniela, I just searched here in the community and came across this thread. Perhaps it will be helpful

good luck!
Hi Rebecca,
I tried it using both the quizzing and the text entry option, with the text entry option I tried to set the submit button to only move forward when the TextEntry equals a "value", and I double checked and it still isn't accepting my answer! I wonder if it's because it's in a R-L language? Or should that not be an issue?
I'm looking at the link now--it looks interesting....I'm definitely going to check it out later on today! Thanks for your replies!!
Daniela
Hmm. I wouldn't think the R-L SHOULD do that. Hopefully someone who's knowledgeable in that area will chime in. I would assume that if it's a bug, they'd want to fix it. And if not, I'm sure they'll want to help you.
