Text Entry Submission Without Hitting Enter

May 07, 2019

Hello, all!

First-time poster here, but I have already learned so much from this forum!

I've got a content slide in 'try' mode that requires text entry. I'd like for the user experience to replicate the software we're practicing as closely as possible, and having to hit 'enter' creates a challenge. When using the actual program hitting 'enter' will close the window the user is in, so I'd like to avoid training to that behavior.

Is there a way to submit the interaction when the correct value has been entered? Or can you think of any solutions to overcome this situation?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Kayli,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes! I’m not sure if a submission is possible without having to perform some type of action to show the answer is complete. Here’s a discussion that has a similar situation to what you’re describing with the enter key and some neat workarounds!

It’s possible to create your own button or hotspot to submit the entry, or you can even assign a keystroke to submit. This tutorial on text-entry questions is an excellent resource on customizing your question. Hope this helps!
