We are using Mary TTS (http://mary.dfki.de/) to narrate our courses. Its open source. Sometimes it can be a bit "sensitive" and needs some words spelling phonetically. I'm using a voice called Spike, its UK English, and quite good. You need to credit Mary TTS somewhere though.
Before that I was using Natural Reader, which was quite good, slightly more robotic, but good. You need to pay for this though. (www.naturalreaders.com)

Mary looks interesting - it's not immediately obvious how to use it though...
Is it an app? Do we provide the text to convert in one of these XML files some of the docs refer to? It's not obvious!
