Text Variable Reference not working!

Jan 04, 2019

I'm starting to believe the issue is on my end but I need some advice.

Storyline 360 allows me to add a data entry field (name the variable and create the trigger) but will not display any slides in preview that include the reference.

The attached file shows how I've set it up, so please let me know if it lets you interact in preview and if not please help!

That works fine, however as the trigger shows the variable is only updated when the control loses focus e.g. when you click outside of it, as it is set to jump to the next slide the control loses focus at the same time it jumps so you do not see the reference

just preview that one slide and you will see it work when you press submit

Glad it worked on your end.  I will speak with my IT department to confirm if there is something blocking variables on our system

All I see is a blank screen in preview and the same thing when the slide is published to HTML5.  If I remove the reference the slide displays fine.

Have you heard of this before?

Hi David,

A few other things to check:

  • Are you using the latest update of Storyline 360? Storyline 360, build 3.23.17480.0 would be the latest and you can check by going to the "Help" Tab -> "About Articulate Storyline".
  • Are you working on local project files, according to the guidelines here?
  • Look at importing your project into a new copy to resolve any behind the scenes corruption issues that could be causing the misbehaving.

Let us know if you need anything else!
