Hello, I try to open my project in Articulate Storyline and I get a message telling me that " the project is invalid or corrupt and cannot be open in Storyline".
Sorry to hear that you ran into an issue. Is this your file or was it shared with you by someone utilizing a newer version perhaps? Be sure you are utilizing the latest update, which is Update 10.
If your file, there may still be a working version of your project in your temp files. Here's how to check:
1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
4) Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.
File corruption is unpredictable, and there's no straightforward way to determine what causes it. Common causes are environmental (disk errors, power outages, improper shutdowns), viruses, failed Windows updates, and even file size (i.e., very large files have a higher risk of corrupting). Consider using the preventative measures described in this article to protect your project files.

Hi Melanie!

Hello Leslie,
Many thanks for your answer. I followed your instructions but unfortunately I cannot find the .tmp that I am l looking for.
Now, I have 2 questions:
1. I published a version of the project yesterday in my intranet. Is there a way to import this html file into storyline?
2. Can I send you my project so that you can confirm me if the file was corrupt or if there is still hope to get it back.
Thanks again for your help,
Kind regards,
Mélanie
Hi Melanie!
You cannot take a published file and revert back to a project file.
You are welcome to share the file and I can try to open, but I will not be able to save it if truly corrupt.
Hi Leslie,
How can we to revert back a published file to a project file?
Thanks a lot!
Mélanie
That was a terrible typo - you cannot. I apologize Melanie. I edited my response above to prevent further confusion.
