In menu slide: tick on module titles when modules have been completed - Won't work

Mar 17, 2015

Hi everyone,

I don't succeed to use a variable that would show a 'tick' i.e. 'visited' state on module titles in my menu slides once these modules have actually been visited.

More details:

  • I have an elearning platform with 4 modules (see attached image)
  • The user arrives on the menu slide and is invited to visit module 1 (they don't 'have to' at the moment but the voice over tells them to do so)
  • Once they have visited all slides of module 1, they come back to the menu slide. At that stage, I would like the module 1 title to be 'ticked' so that they naturally go to module 2, and so on.

I have gone through some discussions and tried the method presented in the attached articulate storyline file. For module 1 it gives the following:

  • On the menu slide - Create a 'visited' state for the module 1 title
  • Create a variable 'module 1 visited' that I put on 'False' on Default value
  • On last slide of module 1 - Create a trigger that sets the variable to 'True' when the user clicks on 'Next'
  • On menu slide - Create a trigger that change the state of Module 1 to 'visited' when timeline starts, if variable is 'True'

It all makes sense to me but, somehow, it does not work...

Would anyone have some experience/tips they could share with me?

Many thanks in advance!

Jean-Louis

Hello Jean-Louis,

The built in visited state will automatically appear once the item is clicked, it would not need a trigger to make it appear. You would only need to add a trigger if you are using a custom state. I do see in your file that you are using a Complete state, and this is changing when they return to the main page. All of the buttons appear to be working as designed. When returning from content, they are showing in the complete state, and the following button is available.
