Tracking user response information from Storyline quizzes

Mar 13, 2014

Our company has recently switched to Articulate Storyline as our e-learning authoring tool. Our previous authoring software included an AICC portal which, when users would take assessments through it, reported the completion status and score back to our LMS, but would also allow us to pull reports on data such as user responses to specific questions.

We would like to use the native Storyline quiz feature to deliver assessments, but it's important to us that we still be able to track user response data, while tracking completions and scores in our LMS (which does not have the capability to track responses directly.)

Is anyone aware of a content and/or assessment delivery system that would allow us to accomplish this? To be clear, the goal is to author the assessment in Storyline, and deliver it such that A) our LMS receives the score and completion, and B) we have a way to access specific user responses.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Ian and welcome to Heroes!

Storyline is designed primarily as an elearning development tool to be used in conjunction with Articulate Online or your own Learning Management System (LMS). Any LMS that is compliant with SCORM, AICC, or Tin Can API will also provide accurate tracking capabilities. The data that Storyline sends to an LMS is detailed here, and it's up to the LMS to determine how that information is displayed back to the user and administrators.

Tracking results or responses in a text file or database is not supported. There are a few community threads where users have sent the responses to a Google doc or similar.
