Trainee providing feedback on a course

Feb 19, 2013

Afternoon All,

I am fairly new to Storyline and my company is fairly new to eLearning design therefore feedback on the courses we are creating is important to us.

I have been playing around with some ways to get feedback through to us from someone who has completed the course. These methods have included:

- A form hosted on our intranet site that is linked as a 'Web Object' to the published course on our LMS. Unfortunately, I can't just get the form to display quite right as its an object in a webpage therefore it looks very messy :(

- A linked shared google doc. This one isn't so hot as the feedback could include very sensitive business information which, whilst I am sure is secure, my company probably wouldn't want outside of our LAN.

- A link for the person to write us an email. This one just fell flat as even as I wrote it I knew that people just don't like writing emails.

So basically I need a simple, cost effective, secure way for people to provide us feedback for the courses we publish.

Am I just being silly? Or are there others out there in the ether that have encountered a similar problem? Did you manage to resolve it in a way unlike the ones I have posted above?

Hi Adrian, just create a survey with SL that participants complete in order to get their certificate.  When they hit send, the results go to you.  That should work as long as the survey isn't too long and people need the certificate.

Afternoon Alan,

It was just me being silly! You have saved me many grey hairs kind sir!!

Cheers

Still having some issues with this!

I have put in a survey but cannot find a way of getting the Survey to post their results anywhere.

I have even tried making a combined Survey and Quiz and posting them both to our LMS (Cornerstone) but still can't find the results.

Thinking I may have to go down the google form route.. not perfect :(

Anyone have any further ideas?

Hi Adrian,

This is a different route, I know it may not work for you, but I thought I would share the suggestion. Have you considered maybe using a third-party survey site? There's quite a few free ones that you could use, Survey Monkey for example, and those survey sites would enable you to either receive the feedback through email or through the sites themselves.

As I said, it may not be exactly what you're looking for, but it may be an easy solution until you're able to implement something a little more elegant.

Hi Adrian,

No problem, I totally understand! I'm sure there's a service out there that would let you make the surveys a little more... in tune with the demand for the company's branding.

I'm afraid I can't offer much help with coding and such, but if you're able to find a way to maybe create your own form, through HTML and host it on a web server, you could certainly use that, too. It's been so long since I've played with HTML, I wouldn't be able to walk you through this, but if would definitely be a great option for customizing the form for your users and clients.

Now I wish I had the time to relearn some of my old web development tricks to try this out. Maybe this is something I'll put on my "To Do" list!
