Training Certificate autonumbers and printing

Oct 22, 2013

I would like to learn how to insert a number field on a certificate so that it auto updates on each view if possible. I also want to add a printout button for this same certificate. Any help appreciated.

Wow, thats a lot more complicated than I wanted to get to generate a simple text entry name field on a standardized certificate..... Does anyone know a simple way a content specialist like myself can do this ?? Any other help appreciated.  I also appreciate this help but it may be a little over my head from a technical standpoint to enact. Maybe if I had a person on the phone to walk me through it would be more helpful...Any offers welcome for help

Hi Phil,

It is a lot to build - but it's one of the best examples in the community. You may want to also post in that thread to see if there is anyone able to help you create a certificate - I'm always impressed at how helpful the community can be in getting something like this started. We don't currently support certificates of completion. If you'd like to suggest this feature, please submit your request to our product development team.

Now that I know a little more about what I need.....  I want to have a slide that I can go to without going online. I am going to use the player in storyline to be viewed by a company that will use a "dummy" computer to view the course and take the quiz without the aid of an internet connected computer.  Is there any solution that might help me with this use ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Philip,

I'm not sure that I'm following. You have a course that will be played offline and the users will take the quiz, and you still want to a certificate at the end that shows their name?

First off, if all users will access it from the same computer that'll be offline, you'll want to disable the prompt to resume so that they can't pick up where they left off.

Second, you could enable the "print results" feature on a quiz slide which would give you an indication of how the user did and what they answered.

If you're going to do that, I would make the insertion of a name a short answer question, or fill in the blank so that it's tracked by the results slide and therefore included when the user goes to print (this way they can't just take someone elses results).

Does that satisfy what you're looking for?

Not exactly. I see what you are saying and I understand the design decisions Articulate made when designing the software however I feel that buyers of the software should be able to print out a certificate without linking to a website externally. I am simply trying to link the print certificate button to a file on the "C" drive of  a the same computer which houses the storyline files but is not connected to the internet. Perhaps this could be an add-on cost part of the software... I know that they want to drive business to Articulate online but some customers simply do not need or want this type option and they are fairly insecure about putting site specific content online.

Is there anyway to do this and get the name they type in a text box on the print certificate slide to insert the name they typed into the text box to print in the certificate ?  I am using Microsoft word?

Any help appreciated
