translated xlif says successfully imported BUT it does not translate anything in Storyline

Mar 06, 2024

Hello!

Simple question, from the ones using xlif files, how accurate and useful do you find the tool? Please be honest.

We need to translate a huge amount of courses, we have an internal tool to translate, I export the xlif file, I translate it in the tool (I can ensure it was translated) but when I import it back to SL it says it succeed but the SL does not get translated.

We also used the human translation service, I imported the xlif file, they use the exact tool I used with the plus they then check it with a linguist, they gave me the file back, I exported and some slides or parts where not translated.

At this point I need to find a way that works fine, and I have the feeling this xlif is not an option for a huge amount of work, I am afraid I will have to export a word doc but paste it manually when it gets translated.

Hi Sofia,

Thanks so much for reaching out!

I see that my colleague Joe reached out to you in that other discussion you linked in your post. Please double-check that your file includes target tags so that your translation file can be properly imported into Storyline 360.

As a reference point, here is our User Guide for Translating Courses in Storyline 360.

If any other questions come up, just let us know in this thread or privately in a support case.

Have a great weekend!
