I am responsible for creating an application training that will be translated into french. I've used and enjoyed Storyline's translation features for the text-based slide elements, but I have an additional challenge for this project: The interface is also in French. Is there any easy or recommended way to "reshoot" the screen recordings I do in Storyline to capture the French interface? Or do I essentially need to rebuild the course?
I don't know that you'd need to rebuild the whole course, but just that set of screen recordings. If it were just the captions, you could use the translation element for that, but since it sounds like you're doing a slide by slide view, the screen recording itself becomes part of the background.
Hi Ashley- Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I must not have subscribed to notifications for the thread! Anyhow, yes the screen recording does become part of the background. How do I replace a screen-recording with a new one while preserving the captions?
What I would suggest is do a new screen recording, and insert it into a new scene. Then I'd copy over the captions I wanted to keep to replace those which were automatically created for the new recording. If you tried to overwrite the existing screen recording, the captions would disappear as well.
