I would like to see CC integrated closer with the editing tools inside storyline, find and replace, publish to word and translation export would be ideal.
I do see that translation and CC may be on the side of should it be done, it really becomes a subtitle rather than a CC at that stage (there is a difference in how you would subtitle versus closed caption). But that would be me being a pedant.
It is a good idea, and hopefully is on the roadmap somewhere.
Are the CC's available in an XML or .JS file in the published output? This would make them available for searching using Notepad ++ or another editing tool.
It would be a good addition if the srt files are accessible from within the media library, and if the library allowed multiple select for export this would be problem solved.
20+ projects that are going for translation now. Manually extracting hundreds of captions for translations and manually reimporting them is a MASSIVE time consuming task.
And lots of room for errors too, unfortunately, with the many manual steps involved.

No the CC is not included.
You can export the CC but it is on a slide by slide basis.
Including CC would be a good idea, however in a lot of cases you change the audio and would need different CC and timing
"Good Idea" isn't strong enough to get it implemented.
How about adding closed captioning to search and replace? The lack of search was why I was trying translation export.
Is search and replace of closed captions something the community needs?

We do not support the modification of published output, but to answer your question, I was able to find my captions in the story_content folder:

Those seem to be the captions, and while it may be technically possible to write a script to decode them, it would be a lot.
I may have to unzip the .story and take a look in there.

Exporting the closed captions is a feature request we are tracking. I'm adding this conversation to the report along with your idea, Phil.
