Translation Import Font Size Errors

Jan 08, 2013

I am getting erratic behavior when doing a translation import.  The font sizes coming in do not match the sizes in the document.  Smaller, by several points.

16 point Calibri comes in as 13 point.  Change the same text in the Word document to 36 point, Storyline imports it as 28.5.

I've given plenty of room in the text box, so this isn't a resizing to fit issue.

Operator error or unrealistic expectations?

The cause of this problem found.  Whether it's a bug in Storyline or not, there's a pretty simple fix by using the default 96DPI which I thought I was using on my 24 inch monitors.  However, I had chosen a magnifier tool which I understood changed the size of icons without changing the screen dip.  Apparently not.

Storyline's Translation> Export will produce a Word document with valid font sizes at the higher screen DPI, but Translation>Import will import the sizes slightly smaller.

Using the same Import file, reduce the screen DPI setting back to 96DPI and import.  The font sizes are restored properly.

Articulate support replied with that answer after I filed a bug report.  Many thanks.

When translation export works perfectly when the display dpi is 120, it seems obvious, but incorrect, that translation import should also work.

If this is not a correctable bug in Storyline, add a warning message when an import request is processed "dpi must be set to 96" ?
