Format Changes with Translation

Aug 07, 2014

I have been practicing using the Translation capabilities in Storyline.

I've noticed that the font sizes change pretty drastically and fit differently once they are imported back into the translation document. I am also having a rough time finding formatting tools like line spacing and margins.

For example I imported a Power Point in English with a title that was Arial 24 point.

It became 18 pt in Storyline.

I exported the information for a translation document and changed all the fonts to Arial Unicode MS because I was translating into Japanese. The translation document was 18 pt.

I changed the font color to black to make it easier to read (we publish white on a blue background) , translated, changed it back to white and imported.

The fonts ended up being 15 pt in some places and the spacing was very large.

I can't seem to find where to change the spacing between lines or the margins in order to be consistent with my courses.

So, questions are:

1. Fonts are changing sizes, am I doing something wrong

2. Is there a way to change the word/line spacing and margins?

Thank you,
Heather

Hi Heather,

In regards to the PowerPoint importing, take a look at the following. As for ways to adjust line space and such, please see this KB article.

As for importing the translations from the Word document, I would say that it probably comes down to the changes in word length and how the text boxes and such were initially formatted for the original words. By default I believe, most text boxes are set to shrink the text in order to handle any overflow that may occur. All of that may be what is happening here.

Always Happy to Help,

Adrian
