Triggering delayed animations
Feb 12, 2015
Sorry if this is super simple - I searched this forum and also google, but maybe I'm not using the correct terms.
I have a trigger set up so that when a user clicks a button, an image changes state from Hidden to Normal. I'd like two more images to also change state, from Hidden to Normal, but I don't want this to happen all at once - I'd like the second two changes to be delayed slightly.
Right now I'm achieving this by using animations, with a longer duration for each image, but the result is not ideal, and I'm sure there must be a simpler way. Thanks in advance!

Which version of Storyline are you using?
Storyline 2!
One possible option is to use Cue Points to delay a change of state for image 2 and 3. See the attached example. Hope that gives you some ideas.
This works beautifully, thank you Michael!
Glad that Michael was able to assist you here Sara :)
Hi, does this work on Articulate 3? I tried applying it in my file but it doesn't work for me. I also noticed that the objects were not "hidden when the timeline starts". should i make a trigger for that first?
Hi Ruby!
I'm happy to help! You should be able to still use cue points using Storyline 3. Have you set the initial state to "Hidden" for the objects that depend on triggers to change the state?
I've attached a sample file that includes cue points and triggers that determine when the state of an object changes.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Hi Lauren,
Thank you for taking the time to respond and making the sample! The missing step for me was setting the initial state as "hidden".
