Trouble reordering Player Triggers

Dec 12, 2012

Hi all,

I have a question slide with 5 PLAYER triggers. I just realized I need to add a 6th and reorder it so it appears 3rd in the list. I can create it just fine, but it won't allow me to move it up to the 3rd position. No matter if I create it new or copy an existing one, the "up" arrow won't move it. I can shift the existing player triggers up and down, but none can be move any lower than 2nd from the bottom.  I'd hate to have to delete them then create them again in the correct order as I have 22 slides that need this trigger added. I'm stumped - does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Hi Barb,

Unfortunately, if you respond to the automatic email it won't post to the forums. However, if you'd like, you're welcome to submit the files to us through a support case. You should be able to attach the .story file on the second page of the form. If you get a chance, please share that case number with me (either in this thread or in a private message), so I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.

Thanks again, Barb!

Was this issue resolved? I am having the same problem. I'm using a custom button to jump to the next slide, but the user needs to enter his/her first name in a text entry box first. The TextEntry trigger is stuck at the bottom of my list of triggers and the up/down arrows are grayed out. The other two triggers (show error message layer and the button trigger) can be moved up or down relative to each other, but not below the TextEntry trigger.

Hi Diane and welcome to Heroes!

I don't see where Barb ever submitted a case, so I'm not certain what her particular issue was.

In regards to the order that the triggers are listed, you'll see "slide trigger", "object triggers" and "player triggers" are listed in groupings, and you can move them within each grouping, but not above or below another grouping.

Hi, Ashley, and thanks for responding so quickly to my inquiry! I love the e-Learning Heroes!

According to the trigger list, these are all object triggers. I've attached an image showing the three triggers. The TextEntry trigger is highlighted because I selected that object on the slide, but the up/down arrows are grayed out and it won't let me move the trigger. I deleted the object and added it again, but it made no difference.

Hi Dianne,

Thanks for the image - as Phil said, you can't move the text entry trigger between the button triggers or above them. You could move those button triggers so that one comes before the other - but couldn't set it to appear after the text entry.  Here is some additional information about how triggers are executed.
