Trouble Viewing Published Courses

Oct 03, 2016

Is anyone else having trouble viewing published courses?

I used to be able to publish a course to my Desktop then run it by clicking on the story HTML file. Now, I just get a never-ending "loading" circle in my browser. This issue extends to all files (ones that I used to be able to view) over multiple computers. I thought it might be our virus protection (ESET Endpoint) but pausing my virus protection has no effect. I copied the folder to my personal computer, and it worked fine, so I concluded that the issue must have something to do with the way computers are set up at work.

I can only view published files at work by uploading them to our FTP site to create a link. Then, the files open and run on our work computers with no issues.

I am running Articulate Storyline 2, version 10.

Thank you!

Hi Carrie!

We've always advised to publish/upload your content for proper testing:

If you view an Articulate Storyline course on your local hard drive (or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive), you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features to fail. To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. See this article for details.

What users are running into now is a result of the Flash Player update:

If you just see a spinning circle or a Flash Player notification when you launch published courses on your local computer, you may be experiencing a new Flash Player security feature. See this article for details and solutions.
