Trouble with several quizzes in the same storyline file

May 09, 2023

Hi,

I'm having trouble with a storyline project I've created, I can't create results slides without the program crashing.

The project is supposed to be a way to practice painting deviations, showing a picture and letting you select the correct term from 3 alternatives. I have 108 pictures/alternatives in a question bank. And I've created a draw of 25 questions and a result slide for this. The issue is that I want to have a similar draw for the 108 questions in 8 different languages, resulting in 8 draws, 8 result pages, and a total of 864 questions. A landing page lets you select the languages you want.

The first 4 languages worked well to add, but then storyline started to misbehave. I can add the question banks and the draws, but when I try to add the result slide everything crashes. Storyline complains about low memory, and asks me to close all other applications. I've tried this of course, the memory usage is never above 32% while trying this action, but the program still crashes. The file is also quite heavy to work with, taking several minutes every time I open or save it, even though the file is not super large (52 MB).

I've managed to create the draw and result slide in a separate project, and paste them in the project, but then it crashes when trying to save the project instead.

Any ideas how this could be managed? Is there a limit to the number of quizzes I can have? I'm looking at other solutions, like dividing the file in one for each language, but of course that is not as neat.

Thanks so much

Klara

Hi Klara,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue.

It sounds like having multiple iterations of the same slides is causing issues with your project.

Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening? We'll delete it when we're done testing!
