Tutorials Blocked Within Company Network

Hi, my colleague has just started using Articulate Storyline and was hoping to view some fo the tutorials but unfortuantely we are unable to see them.

I think maybe the format is blocked by our IT department. Does anyone know what format these are in?

Also if there is an alternative way of viewing these that would be great.

Hi Sarah,

If you're not able to see the Storyline tutorials on the Storyline start page, you'll want to follow the steps outlined below. 

To correct this issue:

  • Ensure that you have an Internet connection. After re-establishing your Internet connection, press F5 to refresh the start screen, or close and reopen Storyline.
  • If you're behind a proxy server, click the round Articulate button in the upper left corner, and click Storyline Options. Then add your proxy server settings where indicated.
  • If your firewall is blocking access to the Storyline start page, ask your IT staff for assistance.

For the tutorials within the community, you'll want to ensure your Flash player is up to date, as they're all embedded web videos.

Do you have the server addresses that are used to check for updates and the tutorials?

Hi Keith and Sarah,

Storyline actually hits 3 locations at launch:

1.  Our current home screen calls http://www.articulate.com/ipc/SL113/en/startpage, which redirects to an Amazon Web Services page: http://articulate.storyline.s3.amazonaws.com/startpage/1.0.13/en/startpage.html The specific page tends to change with each Storyline update, but the domain should stay constant.

2.  Our activation URL and Port are activation.articulate.com and 443, respectively.

 3.  Studio and Storyline check for updates on a PHP page within www.articulate.com/products/upgrades/. This PHP page varies based on the product and version that is installed. This check occurs via Port 80. 

If an update is available and the user clicks "Yes" in response to the "Would you like to view updates now?" prompt, Storyline opens the default Internet browser to a PHP page within www.articulate.com/products/. This PHP page varies based on the product and version that is installed, and the browser communicates via Port 80.

Hi Sarah! One other option that might work is to download this Storyline User Manual in PDF format. It has the Storyline tutorials embedded in it.
