Tutorials built in old version of Articulate

Feb 09, 2021

I have created e-learning files several years ago with an old version of Articulate. Now that we move from Internet Explorer to other browsers such as Chrome and Edge, the tutorials do not work any longer. I browsed your support pages and downloaded the Articulate Updater and ran this through all my files. When running the tutorials from the files stored on my computer, they do run on any browser. But when I saved the files on Sharepoint, the tutorials do not run on any browser any longer. Can you help me?

Hi Leslie,

thank you for your reply. I created the tutorials back in 2015, I believe it was Storyline 1 or 2? I have a strange case where one of the tutorials still works but the rest (about 20) is not working any longer and I fail to find out what is different. Anyway, followed the steps in the link you sent, but I cannot upgrade as I do not have any such file '.story'. I have been running the Articulate updater on my files. Can you help me again?

ok, I searched for the *.story and I got a return from the search that his document is in each of the My Articulate Projects folder (but not visible if I access each respective folder...). The *.story file, though, is in pdf format. Now how do I achieve an upgrade to Articulate 360 from this pdf file format? I have just downloaded the Articulate 360 trial version.

I have now upgraded my old version tutorials and saved them on SharePoint. The problem is that I cannot run them from SharePoint. I searched the community and saw that this seems to be a common issue. What is Articulates recommendation on where to save the tutorial files so the 'story.html' file link can be sent to target audiences and it works?

Hi Carsten,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm glad you were able to upgrade your old files to Storyline 360!

The first question to ask is whether you'll need to track learner data. If so, our All About LMSs series provides plenty of helpful information on choosing an LMS that fits your needs, including details on our all-in-one system Rise.com!

If your goal is to share your published output without needing to track data, you should be able to host Articulate content in SharePoint Server by publishing to the web. However, it won't work with SharePoint Online (the Microsoft Office 365 Hosted Edition) since it doesn't support HTML files. If you have more questions about this, connect with our team here.

If you're using Sharepoint Online, consider some of the alternatives shared in the section for publishing to the web below:

I hope this helps!
