Two "Normal" States

Hi,
I seem to have two normal states for the same object. Not sure if this is a bug, or if I accidentally created it. I don't seem to be able to delete the "extra"
normal state.
Where the problem comes in is that the second "normal" state is the one that's displayed, which doesn't show the shape and text that should be there. I tried to copy the shape over, but it'll only copy "transparent" not with the actual shape. I've attached a pictures illustrating.
Has anyone encountered this issue?

Hi, Sandra -- Thanks for your question! May I ask if you have tried importing the file into a new file to see if you find improvement? And also, have you tried the troubleshooting steps listed here to see if that addresses the issue?
Whatever you do, I think you will find that any further work on this project is wasted time. You have to fix the problem first. If it were mine, I would import any good and normal slides into a new project and abandon that slide, and any others like it. Further work in this environment cannot end happily, in my opinion.
