Unable to import storyline2 files in captivate 5 for making audio
Aug 28, 2015
Hi,
Earlier we used Articulate Studio Professional 9 and 13 for our eLearning project and for making audio we used Adobe captivate 5 and 6 . Directly will import ppt(presenter) files to captivate and created audio files, then will imported in articulate presenter. But now we moved to Storyline2 for creating eLearning projects.
1. For making audio, I'm unable to import storyline files to Captivate 5. How to make audio for storyline projects. any idea...??? Kindly suggest me. which version of captivate will support these story files for creating audio...or any other software should I use to create audio?
2. We will get the input in ppt format, there more animations and .gif images are there, while importing ppt to storyline2, the images are not importing properly. Half of the images only visible in storyline. that animations also not supported properly in storyline2. .gif images are appearing like single image (means without animation it is appearing). So, we have to redraw the images and animations again. Kindly suggest me how to fix this issue..
Thanks,
Meera.C

Hi Meera, you don't need to import Storyline into Captivate to create audio. There is a record audio feature in Storyline. After you import your ppt file into Storyline you can record the audio for each slide as required.
In fact, you can both record on each slide (Insert - audio - record mic) and import MP3 files (Insert - audio - audio from file. (One or more MP3s at a time, to one slide at a time; it is not possible to spread one MP3across several slides.)
Hi Meera! Looks like you are getting some great assistance here, just let us know if you need anything further.
Yes of course this is true but you need a third-party application like Audacity to do the recording. I thought it would be easiest for Meera if she used the recording features in Storyline.
Hi All,
Thanks for all your replies. Actually I'm not going to import manual voice. I'm going to import computer voice. for that, any other suggestion is there...could you please let me know.
Previously I used to convert "text to speech" through captivate. same like any other possibilities are there...?
Thanks,
Meer.C
I use Captivate 5 Speech management options.
1. Start Captivate and go to Speech Management
2. Select a voice, type/paste your text.
3. Generate Audio
4. Export the audio from Captivate to a folder - go to the Library, select the audio file, right click and export..
5. Start Storyline and open your project.
6. Insert the generated audio file into the project.
This works quite well, but we do not do it often because the voices are not very natural.. Hope this answer the question, unless I misunderstood it.
Hi Tim,
Thanks for your reply Tim. I'm asking for, Earlier we used Articulate Studio Professional 9 and 13 for our eLearning project and for making audio we used Adobe captivate 5 and 6 . Directly will import ppt(presenter) files to captivate and created audio files, then will imported in articulate presenter. But now we moved to Storyline2.
Can we import story files to Captivate directly to making text to speech conversion. instead of copy/paste each slide notes to captivate, will import all slides to captivate same like ppt files.?
Hi Meera,
I don't know of a way to import Storyline into Captivate, as it's not based on a standard file format like Powerpoint. Will you be publishing the final set up in Storyline or Captivate? If you'll be publishing in Storyline I'd look at creating the audio in Storyline or another tool on your system that can publish to a standard audio format such as mp3 and you can insert into Storyline.
If you're needing to use Captivate, I'll defer to the community expertise as it's not one of our products and therefore I cannot offer support for it.
Ah sorry, I had not realized you were doing text to speech. Sorry I can't help you with this. I have never used text-to-speech in my projects.
Hi Ashley and Nancy,
Thanks for your reply. without human voice, can we import computer voice to this storyline project. If it is possible,Could you please tell me the software name for computer voice (like Kate, Paul voices).
Ok thanks for all your reply. :-)
Hi Meera,
I don't know of other programs that would work for this, so I'll defer to the community in terms of what they've used to do something similar.
sure. Thanks Ashley.
