Unhide answers and align with each other

May 23, 2014

I hope I can describe my question but it is a little complex. I have a course that requires amounts of ingredients to be selected to make a entrée. I am using show/hide layers when you click on an ingredient that will pop up and allow the user to select the correct amount of that ingredient (TB, tsp etc.) Based off of which amount they select I am changing the state of an object on the main slide to be normal instead of hidden. I hope to find a way to code the answer so that if= x + y + z states= normal than the answer is correct else= incorrect. My big problem is that the users have all ingredients (over 30) to select from at any given time and in any order so its impossible to place the hidden objects in any sort of order so that when their states are changed to normal that they will appear next to each other. Is there any way to force the hidden objects to line up with each other as their states change to normal? Any other way that I should approach this? Thank you.

Hi Erica and welcome to Heroes!

There isn't a setting that would force the states to appear or move next to one another once selected - but you can set the location of a state on the slide while editing the state. You may want to look into editing all the correct states so that they'd appear next to each other and the same for the incorrect. Depending on your overall slide set up and how you want it all to look - it may work.

If you have an example .story file you can share here that may also help the community to take a look and provide other suggestions.

Thanks Ashley for the quick response. I have attached a .story file that can help illustrate my dilemma. Each spot on the grid will contain an ingredient  and the amounts appear below so the learner can keep track of what ingredients they have already selected. Having a specific place for each answer/state will be tricky since there are so many different ingredients and having them appear randomly would be difficult to follow. If anyone has any ideas or js code that may help please let me know. Thank you!
