Unlimited Attempts Greyed out

Nov 30, 2022

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to set up unlimited attempts in a quiz. When I change the feedback option to none, it greys out the option for unlimited attempts and allows only one attempt.

Please help, I would like no feedback and allow the participants unlimited attempts.

Thanks in advance!

Telling the user to "Try Again" is a form of feedback. Thus, if you indicate "no feedback," the program interprets that as meaning the user gets just 1 attempt and then has to move on.

As you discovered, if you set the question to provide feedback, you can then set the number of attempts.

For more than 1 attempt, the program will automatically add a "Try Again" layer, which has the programming to reset the question.

If you set the attempts to Unlimited, the user will never see the Incorrect layer. They'll just have to keep answering the question until they get it right.

When they do answer correctly, the Correct layer will show. However, if you want them to immediately advance to the next question/slide without seeing anything on the Correct layer, do this:

  • Use a blank layout for that layer, and remove all the text and other objects.
  • Add a trigger to hide the layer when the timeline starts.
  • Add a trigger to jump to the next slide when the timeline starts.

Note: Those are the same actions usually associated with the Continue button on a Feedback layer.
