I am wondering - is it possible for a question to be set to "unlimited" for number of attempts, but for the Results Slide to only reflect that it was answered correctly if that happened on the first try? Thanks in advance for any help!
This is a good question. You May be able to pull this off with a variable that counts the number of attempts. You could try setting the submit results only if the variable is 1, and the correct answer choice is selected.
I will try and put together a sample and see if it works.
I think the answer to the question is no. There is no way to set the results slide settings to do that. It sounds like there may be a way to create a custom solution that can do something like that though.
Thanks so much for getting back to me. To give a bit more context - I am putting together some courses for adult basic education. As the learners are quite low level, I want them to be able to try the questions as many times as they need. However, they still love to see the Results Slide...and it's a little misleading to see 100% when they perhaps only scored 70% on the initial try of each question. I did wonder specifically about variables, but being quite new to Storyline, I wasn't sure how to approach it. I look forward to your findings!
I wanted to ask if you need this to track within a LMS, or if you just need the results slide in the course to reflect if they go it right on the first try only. If you do not need to track this, there may be a workaround.
You could have the results slide how the passing feedback only if they got it on the first time using variables, but as far as the score goes, it would still show 100% if they got them all right eventually. You could assign a different variable to show the score based on how many times they answered it, however that could get complicated depending on how many questions you have.
OK - this sounds somewhat promising. We are not tracking in an LMS, no (just publishing to the web). Usually we have approx 25 questions, but we can have as many as 40 for one module. Would it be possible to use a variable to show their actual score with that many questions?
Using that many questions might take quite a set up to show a final score based on variables for each question. It may need to be an estimate. i will play around with a file to see if I can come up with any ideas.
I am sure if other members have any ideas they will jump in to assist.
