It's not possible to automatically generate a .story from a published course file.
On the other hand, when you go to recreate the project from scratch, the published file can be used as a visual template to guide the recreation process. And when you delve into the zip file itself, you can locate most of the assets (pics, videos, audio clips) in there somewhere.
