Yikes! This article is from 8 years ago! I'm stuck because storyline 360 does not have a Globe icon and I need to link my URL out to a new window so the course doesn't close when the learner is done with the web page!
Hi Leslie, I have visited the article and watched your Peek but the button isn't in my version of 360. How do we create the link to open in a new window, please?
When you hover your mouse over the URL in the trigger wizard, those two icons don't appear for you? Or, when you say the button isn't in your version, do you mean you don't have an insert hyperlink icon?
You can also right-click your highlighted text and add a Hyperlink through the menu that shows up:
In the Peek Video, when you hover on the URL you get a Browser Options icon on the right. I don't get that in my Storyline 360 so can't set the URL to open in a new window.
Thanks for sharing information on this topic. Also, it's nice to see something current. Andy, I am seeing the functionality Maria and others are showing. A teammate asked me about an hour ago if this was a deliberate action, or if it was by a learner's browser setting. When I hover over the URL it give me those two icons.
In the original file story, the hyperlink was applied to the text box that the text was in. When I changed it so that the hyperlink was applied to the actual text, I got the icons as shown.

Hi Paula,
This conversation is from over 8 years ago, but the article has been updated since then.
It looks like you are using Storyline 360, so I've attached the relevant article:

I also took a moment to record a quick 53 second Peek 360 video to demonstrate.

Hi, Andy.
Thank you for clarifying!
You won't see the icon when you first set up the trigger:
You have to save it, then open it again to edit it:
If your experience is different than above, let's try this:
Ah, OK, think I have figured it out.
In the original file story, the hyperlink was applied to the text box that the text was in. When I changed it so that the hyperlink was applied to the actual text, I got the icons as shown.
Lesson learned there!
Thanks for your help, Maria and Rodney.
Enter the URL, click into the URL field, click the Gear icon that shows next to the Test URL icon, choose the option to open the link in a new window.
