Using keyboard to activate buttons in Storyline

Sep 04, 2012

To meet Section 508 requirements, I need to ensure that all buttons in my course can be activated via a keyboard.

It is explained here that 'Keyboard Support' is built into Articulate Storyline. It says: 'You can execute most Storyline functions using a keyboard. Exceptions include drag-and-drop and hotspot interactions.'

However, I cannot find any documentation on how to activate buttons within the slide and in the player, using just a keyboard. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi Kuriko,

Did you click the other link on that page? Most of those keyboard functions are built in. For instance the tab and space keys. Other keyboard functions can be added using triggers.

Also take a look at this link. The only published output that is 508 compliant is Flash. That means no HTML5 or the Articulate Mobile Player.

Always Happy to Help,

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for your advice, but I couldn't see anything on that page about what key to press in order to execute a trigger without using a mouse. I tried Tab and space bar as you suggested, but it didn't work on my published Flash output. Would you mind having a go at using only the keyboard to complete this quiz that I've published? It doesn't seem to be working for me.
