Using previous button after disabling next button

May 08, 2014

Hello,

I am using Storyline to create a compliance training piece, where the user is not given the option to move forward in the course, it advances automatically....using variables.  My problem is I would still like for the previous button to work so they can go back and view the material again if needed.  Currently, if the user pushes the prev. button, it jumps to the previous slide, but only for a second, and jumps right back to the current slide.  I am guessing that it is because my variable has already said that the slide has been completed.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the previous button play the slide over again and work properly?  I have attached a screenshot with my current triggers and properties.  I am grateful for any help that you can provide.

Hi Andrea,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

I think the easiest way to fix this would be to change the trigger for the slide advancement. Personally, I would change the "When timeline ends" to "When variable: curSlideComplete changes - condition: True". With it set up like this, it won't automatically jump when a learner revisits the slide, because the variable value will already be at "true" and won't change again on that particular slide.

I created a quick example that I'm attaching, just in case you'd like to take a look.
