Using 'Reset to Initial State' slide property does not appear to reset to inital state

Jun 30, 2021

Hi All, I am creating practice simulations to ensure I am all go for the real thing and I have hit a snag.  I populate a text field incorrectly and I get the 'Try Again' pop up.  I click on this and try again but the original text stays in the field.  I read the threads and it said set the slide property to 'Reset to Initial State'.  I have done this but to no effect, has anyone got any suggestions to why this wouldn't work for me.  cheers David

Hi, David, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! ✨

Thank you for reaching out!

Since when the user reaches the Try Again layer, their response is already incorrect, what I'd suggest is making the variable blank as soon as the Try Again layer opens up, which will clear the response for the next attempt.

You can add the following trigger:

Windows 10 (1) 2021-06-21 at 10.00.15 AM

Let me know if this works!

Hi Maria,  Thanks for the response, unfortunately there is no change.  I have added the trigger to the Try Again layer as shown above but the incorrect text is still remaining in the field.  If I delete out the text I am able to type in the correct text and it will progress.

Hi, David.

I'm happy to hear everything is working now!

When you create text entry fields, they're each assigned a different variable. Since when clearing the variable on the Try Again layer, you need to name them individually, there is no way to do it automatically.

You can save some time by duplicating the slide or copying and pasting the layer, but you will still need to re-assign the variable to the one that matches the text entry field.

I hope this answers your question!
