Yes i'm using a variable reference in a text box. That correct.
The problem appears in the Storyline preview and also in the Storyline Export.
I'm using the font helvetica
I attached a screenshot. The left image is the textbox with the variable reference. The right image is a textbox with the same formatting without a variable reference.
Thanks, Mark for that image. Can you also check what version of Storyline 360 you're using (Update 17 was released today) and if your text boxes have modern text applied or not?
Hm, that's even stranger! Could you share a copy of this file for us to take a look at? If you're using a custom font we'll need that font file as well.
If you'd prefer to share that privately, I also 100% understand! You can upload those items directly to us here.

Thanks for reaching out about this, Mark!
It sounds like you're using a variable reference within a text box, is that right?
If so, can you tell me more about what's happening?

Hi,
I use the latest Storyline version (update 17). That don't resolve the issue.
When i apply modern text the issue is still there and all the text in the moduls is suddenly italic

Hi,
I uploaded the files.
Thanks, Mark. I see my colleague Chino is taking a look.
