Variable reference RTL problem

Oct 29, 2018

Hi,

I'm having problem when reference a variable string called Name in a text box with %Name%.

The problem is when I type the text in Hebrew (RTL) it shows the characters in reverse.

Hi there, Nir.  I'm really sorry you're seeing your Hebrew text appear incorrectly.  I need to get a little more information from you to make sure I can document this problem correctly:

  • Are the individual characters showing in reverse order (or flipped)? Or, is it the entire line of text that is displaying LTR instead of the expected RTL?
  • Is this happening as you type the text into the text entry field, or just when the text is referenced after?

If you can provide a screenshot of what the text should look like, and then how it appears when you try to make the reference, that would be helpful.  Thanks!

Hi Nir, thanks for responding!  If you respond by email, attachments don't come through.  But I understand the issue.  We have it documented for our team to review, and I'm attaching your discussion to our report.  That way, I can update you with any changes.

This issue started occurring in update 20 for Storyline 360.  If you'd like to talk about reverting to update 19, feel free to reach out to us here, or just let me know.  I'll open a priority case for you with my team.

Hi,

Finally some improvement :) I disabled the Modern Text and now the RTL text is fine in:

  1. List Numbering and bullets
  2. Text Entry and dynamic text

The only problem I noticed is in Text Entry field, when I apply the field with a style of a Dashed border, the text inside move to right and out of the field.

Are you going to apply the fix in the modern text? Does the old classic text remain supported?

Thank you, Nir
