Variable Text in Rotated Text Box

I'm using Storyline 3 to build a simple spreadsheet interaction.
On a previous slide, the learner selected a 3rd Criterion name and weight to be added to spreadsheet as column headings. The spreadsheet is supposed to show the selected Criterion name (variable text) in a rotated text box that looks like the other two rotated "Criteria" names (regular text). Instead, the variable text appears as though the text box margins are very wide, even though they have the same text box and paragraph settings as the other two "Criteria" text boxes.
I have attached a screen capture showing the odd formatting. (The other variable text boxes -- which are NOT rotated -- don't have this issue.)
Is there something I can do to fix this? Or is it a bug?

I fixed the problem. The variable text was actually in a rectangle. When I placed the variable text in a rotated text box on top of the rectangle, the text appeared just fine.
