Just wanted to confirm that if I wanted to be able to edit a video, I can't use the Video on a single slide option. It appears you can edit the starting and ends points and crop the screen, but you can't remove or add screens to it.
It appears that you can add/remove screens if you record in the View/Try/Test mode.
I must be able to edit so want to be sure that I use the correct mode.
Correct - if you insert a single video recording, you can trim only the edges (beginning and end). However, you could always insert multiple instances of the video, trim them and line them up using the timeline or additional slides.
With a step-by-step recording you can use Fine Action Tuning - but it looks like you've already discovered this :)
