Video problems in Storyline

Apr 09, 2013

I've built a Storyline piece that launches 5 separate videos, each on their own page, when a button is clicked from the menu page. The videos are in MP4 format. When I preview the videos work fine. When I publish and view from my hard drive or from my server, there is audio from the videos but no video. This happens in Firefox and IE. It appears to work fine with Chrome.

Any ideas? I'm very close to going back to just building things in Flash as I've done for the past 13 years. I thought Storyline was going to move me away from native Flash development. But if I don't find a solution soon for this video issue, there's not much sense in me staying with Storyline.

Thanks for any help.  Mike

Hi Mike,

That does sound strange. You referred to your "server", but I'm not entirely sure if this means you're uploading and testing your content on a web server, LMS, or if you're storing the content externally. Can you clarify, please?

If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:
If you're still unable to see the videos, are you able to share the .STORY file here? I'd be happy to take a look.
Thanks!
