video screen recording questions

May 23, 2013

I am going to be doing video screen recordings tomorrow for the first time. I have been practicing today and have some questions.

Is there some way to resize the recording frame once the recording is started?

The process I am recording moves from selecting the browser icon on the desktop into a system log in screen, logging in to that system, then logging into another system, followed by performing a series of specific steps within this program and then logging out.

Each different application, Windows, Citrix, SAP has different screen dimensions.  Do I just have to re-size the SW windows to fit within the recording frame as I go along or is there some way to do this seamlessly?  Like a Fit to Window option for making the SW fit into the recording frame?

Thank you.

Hi there Anne,

There's an option to move new windows into the view of the recording area, but I'm not aware of a way to adjust the actual recording size to fit the windows as you're recording.

One suggestion I thought I'd share, though. Before you start recording, I'd suggest arranging all of the windows in a similar position and/or size. Then, when you're ready to record, you can try matching the size of all the of the windows so it's all similar. If you need to record objects or interactions the desktop at some point, I would either position whatever icons you're using in the same area, or place the other windows over it. This way, when you switch over, everything you need to show will be captured.

Good luck with the project! Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Christine
