Video treated as an object?

How do I make Storyline treat video as an object (i.e. make it where it can be dragged?)

Hi there Curtis. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

From your earlier post, it sounds like you're wanting to do this with embedded videos. Is that right?

How are you wanting to do this, exactly? Are you wanting to use this in a freeform drag-and-drop quiz, or in a custom slide?

If you're wanting to drag the video in a drag-and-drop question, what you could do is group the video with another object. This will make the video select-able in the question options.

Here's how to set this up:

  • Embed your video and arrange its initial state on your slide (adjust the size, etc.).
  • Create a new shape, a rectangle should work well. Make this shape the same size as the video.
  • Make sure that your new object is behind your video. You can do this by right-clicking and selecting "Send backward", or by dragging it down below the video in your timeline.
  • Now, select both the object and the video. You can either drag the mouse on the slide to select them both, or select them in your timeline.
  • Right-click when both the video and object are selected and choose "Group".

Once you've created the new group, you should be able to choose the group in your "Drag Items" in your question.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Christine
