I placed a video in a Slide Layer with no issues. However, no matter what I did, I could not get the video to play on a click or a trigger. It ALWAYS automatically started when I landed on the layer.
If you've set all that up correctly, next we'd want to take a look at your .story file with your permission to do some additional troubleshooting. Can you share it here with us? If not, you can send along privately to our Support Team and they'll dig in!

Have you checked the video properties in the top toolbar?
You'll need to set that in addition to adding a trigger!
