I have a flowchart to present to learners. It is long enough that showing it all at once would be daunting.
Has anyone developed something that might reveal the start of a flowchart that the learner walks through the decision points revealing next steps in the chart?
Hi Sam - I've worked on many aircraft maintenance training aids and electronic performance support systems that required electrical schematics illustrating flow; in these instances, it was most effective (in my experience) having the schematic animated (in Flash) in sync with audio narration - you could do this with Storyline (albeit it may be tedious - the animation portion at least); but you could include markers at the 'decision points' to reveal the next steps in the chart.
Could you see something like that working for your needs?

I've not seen anything like this, but it did seem to me that presenting a starting point with decision markers at a minimum at the decision point s could not only make it interesting to reveal a result, but more would be absorbed.
The learner at a conditional test could click true/false , yes/no , and see the next strand reveal. Did it match expectations?
I'd like to see examples of this and even other variations on the theme if anyone had something they are permitted to share.
Sam - This was found to be very effective; however, due to controlled goods restrictions, it's something I'm unable to show you.
I imagine a nicer looking version of something like this (no offence :P, and of course depending on budget): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKX3LN_IYVM with decision points throughout to proceed through the diagram.
Have you considered copying the flow chart onto a scrolling object? I haven't done this myself but I believe that it is then possible to enhance the flow chart with interactions etc.
I have done something previously, where we set it up almost as a Choose Your Own Adventure style interaction. We created a scenario where the learner had to achieve an outcome. They followed choices using a flowchart to get there. It unravelled the next steps after they chose an option each time. The learner was able to go back a number of times and re-work a solution via alternate methods (trying to achieve a certain budgetary outcome). It worked brilliantly although I am thinking it might not work in all scenarios.
Also, this is a few years old now (like 12 (!!!), however as a concept (like Sam Lincoln just mentioned above) I think it could work.
I'm an Instructional Designer, however I've never worked on Flash Animations. I have a present requirement at my work to develop an animation for one of the circuit diagrams.
I saw the video that you uploaded to the website, it seems to be quite interesting.
Can this be developed inside Articulate Storyline?
My requirements would be:
I've a circuit diagram image, I simply need to animate the arrows to explain the flow or add some glowing objects if required. Yes! There would be audio attached as well.
Is the arrow animation possible in Articulate Storyline?
If yes, Can you please help me with a quick demonstration on how you made your animation work in Articulate Storyline.
I'll be using the Circuit Diagram picture and then animate arrows using motion path. Once the arrow reaches the diode object, I want the diode object to glow using some effects or triggers.

To view this one, go to:
1) Inland Aquaculture Toolbox
2) Select the Bookcase
3) To navigate to content: Aquaculture Textbook > Chapter 4: Production > Stress and its effect on stock > How does stress work?
4) It is the second interaction on the page (the first one is a more visual representation of the flowchart).
Sorry about the PITA navigation - it is the only way to get to it!
I hope this helps!

hi Alfred
yes it can be developed in storyline , i tried developing the same you can take a look at attached story file,
hope this helps.
Hey,
That serves my purpose. Can you please help me with the steps how you created the triggers so that it goes in a loop.
I like the way the arrow continue to animate one after another.

Alfred
Hello Everyone,
I'll be using the Circuit Diagram picture and then animate arrows using motion path. Once the arrow reaches the diode object, I want the diode object to glow using some effects or triggers.
Is this possible in articulate storyline?
If yes, can someone please help me.
Regards,
Alfred
