Web Objects 'browser controls' don't work as expected in IE

Dec 04, 2012

We are having a real issue with Web Objects in Internet Explorer.  We need the new IE window to open with all browser controls including the back and forward navigation arrows.

No matter what 'web object' settings we choose, IE will never open the window with the navigation arrows.

The obvious settings would be.

  • Display: show --> In new browser window
  • Browser: Controls --> All browser controls

Our client is using IE so we can't suggest using a different browser.  Also all options of opening the web object within the slide are no-go (clients rules).

Does anyone know how to get around this issue?

Cheers.

I'm having this same issue...I have links in my LMS hosted CBT that link out to our Intranet and the pages show up without Browser controls specifically the forward and back buttons.  My URL's variables are set to Open in a new browser window and default browser controls.  We are using IE9.  Do you have any updates on what I need to do to fix this?

I have attached a screen shot of my vairiable settings.

Hi Tim,

This thread is a bit older, and I'm not seeing a case for Dan to check into what his particular set up was. Are you able to test it within another browser to see if it's specific to IE9? Also, what update of Storyline are you using? We're currently on update 7 so I'd recommend ensuring you're on the latest update. Also if you'd like us to take a look at your .story file you're welcome to share it here.
