I've got a weird blue outline showing up when I create a marker, I didn't think it would be an issue and we ahead and tried to publish but saw that it persisted into the published file.
If I try to click on the text field, while I have it selected the blue outline will disappear, but if I click out, it comes up again. It shows up around the header text as well as the body text of the label. New markers also have the same issue.
When you have the marker selected, have you applied any kind of formatting to the border outline under the Format tab?
You'll also want to be sure you're following some basic rules to prevent strange behavior:
Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.
Also, If your Storyline software is not working properly, a simple repair may fix the problem.
If you're still having trouble, any chance you'd be able to attach your .story file here so we can have a look?
I am having the same issue. Was a solution found? I have attached two images. The problem seems to start after I have added content. I add markers in the beginning of the course development and they look like the attached image "good marker" and then at some point storyline decides to start formatting markers like the attached image "bad marker". Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
Did you check into those troubleshooting steps that Peter previously shared? Also, are you able to share a copy of this .story file with us that demonstrates the good vs. the bad marker?
Yes I looked at the troubleshooting issues and these do not fix the problem. I am not able to repair because I don't have admin rights on my machine. Also I am not able to post the story because I have content that cannot be published outside of my company.
Could you recreate this behavior in a new file - or create a copy of your file with all the company elements stripped out so that we could take a look? Without seeing the actual file and looking at the settings of things - it's hard to tell what is happening on this one. If you'd prefer to share the file privately you can always connect with our Support engineers here.
I was having the same issue today with markers and the "blue border". I had come across it before and couldn't recall the fix so I came to the forums. I stumbled across this thread and saw the fix wasn't here but did find it elsewhere and wanted to share in case anyone was following this thread.
The border happens to be related to a text box format. Create a text box and alter as needed (I had to add a white fill). Right-click on the text box and select "Set as Default Text Box". Then create a new marker and you should be good to go.

Hi James!
This thread is a bit dated and I'm not sure that the users here would still be searching for a solution, but I appreciate you popping in to share.
No doubt if you can find this thread, someone else can as well - and it can be beneficial to someone in the future.
Hi Wilf!
Of course you can post here :)
If you've tried all of the suggestions here, would you be able to share your .story file so that we can take a look?
Great news Wilf. Thanks for popping in to share your update.
