Weird Things Happen when I Add Audio in Storyline 360

Jan 16, 2019

Hello everyone!

When I add audio to a screen recording, all the sudden the slide will add a title box and an icon to add a picture. I am using a template from the library for my entire project when this happens. I also make my screen recording a separate scene from the other slides.  I have attached 2 screenshots: one before audio and one after audio. I have to go through and delete these from every slide. Super annoying. Is anyone else having this issue?

Appreciate the before and after screenshots, Melissa. That is so weird!

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at the .story file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by using this upload link. I'll let you know what I find, and will delete it right after we get to the root of the issue.

Also, what Storyline 360 update are you using?

I already fixed it myself. Do you still want me to send it to you?

Good morning, Melissa!

Yes, if that's aright! 🙂I'd like to try to replicate the behavior you're experiencing in the file and nail down the culprit, as I would hate for you to keep deleting that box each time you add audio.

By the way, it looks like you may have replied via email in which your contact information came through. This Peek video will show you how to edit it out if you’d like!

Hi!

Thanks for the info about hiding my signature. I am not too worried about though. I am on the most current version of Storyline360. I do the updates as I get them.  I also started having issues with the design not applying to recorded slides, which it used to do. I created a post about that but have not heard anything. This file is not having that issue though.

Let me know what you find!

Hi Melissa,

Thanks so much for sharing your file with us. I had a look, and I can definitely see some strange behavior there. Normally, step-by-step slides are inserted on the "Blank" layout, but your slides are being inserted on the "Picture layout".

For now, you can easily work around it by right-clicking the slide, select Apply Layout, and choose the Blank layout. Check out this quick video to see a demo of that in action.

From here, I'd like to share your file with our Support team to get some further insight on why this is happening. They'll be in touch with you soon!

One last thing – you mentioned you had a post about the design on screen recording slides, but you haven't heard anything. Is this the post you were referring to?
