I have a rectangle into which I've put two buttons and two text boxes. I which to group these into one group. I'm able to select all objects but the option to group is not available to me. It is greyed out. Why can I not group?
When you select all the objects then right click the mouse and then there is an option of group..just click group or press ctrl+G. Please find the attached file.
Whether I try with the top menu or the right click, the "Group" selection is not available to me. It is greyed out. ctrl+G does not work either. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I am able to select all objects. Just can't select "Group."
Sounds like something in your selection is already in a group, things don't like to be in more than one. So if you can ungroup click that then you should be able to group.
Hi there, I'm having the same problem as Danielle described, and I'm using SL 360. I have a dial with a bunch of lines and numbers as labels that I want to group. When I select the dial and all of the labels and try to group, the Group menu is greyed out--it is not available (nothing in the Group menu is available, including Ungroup, and the items aren't part of any other group). I've grouped items before. Don't know why the Group feature isn't available in this case. If anyone can shed any light, that would be great!
Thanks, Leslie. We figured out that the Group feature was disabled because I was including a dynamic object-the dial-in the group. I ended up leaving out the dial and just grouping all of the dial labels, and that worked fine.
I like the group feature, but when I need to replace a graphic or add something to a group, I am having difficulty. I am ungrouping, then re-grouping with the additional component. Is there an easy way to add or substitute things in a group? Also, it seems I cannot group them from the timeline.
If you want to replace an image in a group, you can right-click on the image and select Replace Picture.
To add an object to a group, simply select the group and the additional object, right-click and select Group. This will give the group a new name. You can also ungroup then re-group with the additional object, as you mentioned.
Finally, you're right that there isn't a way to group from the timeline. You'll want to right-click the objects on the slide to group them, or use the Control + G keyboard shortcut.

Can you select ungroup?

Hi Lisa! Sorry to hear that you've run into difficulty with this. Would you be able to share your sample .story slide for us to take a look at?

Oh, glad you were able to identify that Lisa. I appreciate you popping in with an update and sharing with the community.
