What happens when I open a .story file and everything has changed?

Hello,

It happens quite often: I made a SCORM put it in the LMS and everything is fine. But after a while I have to change something in the .story file. Then I always open the file on the same computer I created it on.

Then, all of sudden, everything has changed in the .story file. You can see in the tow pictures: one from the LMS and onde from the opened .story file. It happens all the time. I try to change the questions, preview it, then it looks good, but then I close the preview and it is messy again. The states go to the back or at different locations, I do not understand.

Do you have any ideas? Or maybe tips that might help us?

Hi Madeleine,

I'm sorry to hear about the odd behavior with your file, and I'd like to have you check on a few things:

What is the DPI setting on the computer? You'll want to use a DPI of 96 as described here.
Work on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, includingfile corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate)
Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.
What is the slide zoom at - you'll want to use 100% zoom.

Please let us know how it's behaving after checking into those elements.

Thank you for your reply. I work quite often with a USB, so I should not do that.

Thanks Madeleine for the update, and if you have problematic files that are not working as expected you may also want to try importing them into a new Storyline file as described here. You'll want to do so within a new file located on your local drive.

Hi Ashley ...

We're having the same problem. If we open the .story file in a different computer, the fonts change from 12 to 15 pts. We've checked the dpi; we're opening from the local drives on both computers; and we can't figure it out. Please help.

Do you both have the same font installed? Are you able to share a sample file here with us?
