I'm using buttons to move between layers. After clicking the button, going to the layer, returning to the main layer, and clicking the button again, when I go back to the main layer, the button is gone. What am I doing wrong?
Perhaps you can try setting the slides back to the initial state as opposed to letting Storyline automatically choose what happens. Also make sure your buttons are set to "show to end" and you do not have fade out animation applied. You can set the properties for the slide when you are in Story View. Look for the field (when revisiting) in the bottom right corner. I hope that helps.
Is it possible to share an example of the storyline file? It is easier to troubleshoot if you are able to upload. The support group at Artuclate are great at figuring these issues out and they most likely will request a copy of the storyline file.

As Layton mentioned it would be helpful to take a look at your .story file (or even a mocked up/sample file which exhibits the same behavior). Thank you. I checked all of the things you suggested, but the buttons still are gone after the 2nd try.
