Why Isn't my Drag and Drop Interaction working?!?!?

Dec 04, 2017

I created a Drag and Drop interaction in Storyline 360 by adding a Freeform Question and picking the built-in Drag and Drop. Then I created two hotspots and added seven text boxes. Three drop into one hotspot, two drop into the other hotspot, and two are incorrect and shouldn't be moved. I created a Drop Correct and Drop Incorrect state for the text boxes. But the interaction won't work right! The text boxes move, but they don't change states, and they sort of grade correctly but it's hard to tell because I can't exactly see where the text boxes are dropping. I have taken this apart and put it back together several times today and am not any closer to an answer. Please help!

Hi there Beth! Thanks for allowing me to take a look at your file. 🙂

I've got a few recommendations for you:

  • Reduce the length of the answer choices so that they will fit nicely into one hotspot without overlapping.
  • Use the Tile setting to prevent the answers from landing on top of one another.
  • Decrease the font size of the answer choices to create more space at the bottom of the slide.

I made those changes in your file--have a look at the attachment and let me know what you think!

Thank you for the response, Alyssa. While it is closer to what I am looking for, it still doesn't work quite right. When I preview your file, drag and drop answers, and hit the submit button, the answers are jumping all over the page so the students couldn't try again if they get an answer wrong... I am not sure why this interaction is giving me so much trouble!
