Adding a trigger to the Articulate storyline inbuilt PLAY button to start video

Jan 21, 2020

hello,

I am trying unsuccessfully:
Adding a trigger to the Articulate storyline inbuilt PLAY button to start video.
Basically : I have a video in a file that should stop playing ONLY after I have pressed the PLAY button on the actual inbuilt Articulate storyline player button.
I added a trigger to stop timeline - no problems.
but next trigger to e added LOGICALLY would be "Start/Play media( i.e video file on a slide) when PLAY button is pressed - that option is not available.

Please help how to solve it?

This is an interesting problem. There are no triggers to control the built-in play pause buttons.

To get around this, I would do the following:

  1. create a trigger to stop the video from playing then the timeline for this slide starts
  2. Add a custom play button on the screen that users have to click to start the video.
  3. Add another trigger to change the state of the custom button to hidden when the custom button is clicked.
  4. They should then be able to use the built-in play/pause buttons to control the video going forward.

I have attached a simple example so that you can see what I mean.
